8 Lessons To Be Learnt From “To Kill A Mockingbird”

To read this novel was one of the most difficult things in my life. Like seriously, reading this novel was a real pain.

Why?

I don’t know what was wrong with me but for some reason, which is beyond my understanding, it never hooked me and it took me AGES to finish it!. Generally, I complete any novel in a day or two but not this one. *Facepalm*

“Atticus is really really really incredible, a role model in a true sense. I was in love with Scout and Jem, those kids will be in my heart forever. Oh! And I loved the Boo Radley’s storyline, it left me in awe”.

The story is amazing and exceptionally told, you can definitely learn few lessons which should or can, be implemented in one’s life.

Here you go:

Lesson 1: Never judge a person.

You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view… Until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it.

Lesson 2: Courage comes from within.

I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It’s when you know you’re licked before you begin, but you begin anyway and see it through no matter what.

Lesson 3: Never pay heed to people’s opinion

People generally see what they look for, and hear what they want to.

Lesson 4: Treat everyone equally.

I think there’s just one kind of folks. Folks

Lesson 5: Respect people’s perception but do what your heart says.

They’re certainly entitled to think that, and they’re entitled to full respect for their opinions… but before I can live with other folks I’ve got to live with myself. The one thing that doesn’t abide by majority rule is a person’s conscience.

Lesson 6: Trust is the greatest gift a person can give you.

We’re paying the highest tribute you can pay a man. We trust him to do the right.

Lesson 7: Respect people.

As you grow older, you’ll see white men cheat black men every day of your life, but let me tell you something and don’t you forget it—whenever a white man does that to a black man, no matter who he is, how rich he is, or how fine a family he comes from, that white man is trash.

Lesson 8: Be optimistic.

(When the night is darkest, know this morning is near.)

Things are always better in the morning.
